DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY

The department of Zoology was started in this college in the year 1952.  In the beginning the department was housed in the main building and later it was shifted to Natural Science block during the 1965. Since then many resourceful teachers have served the department in different capacities as professors, Readers and Lecturers. Since Mangalore University has introduced Credit based Semester programme at undergraduate level, the syllabus of Zoology has been revised as per the directions of the university. The syllabus gives more emphasis on the Zoo diversity of local fauna, their ecology and distribution. A synthetic approach was adopted in order to integrate information of several subdivisions of Zoology. In view to give more emphasis on the Zoo diversity of local fauna, their ecology and distribution, students are instructed and guided to work on small projects
