The department of Social Work was established during the year 2007-08. This is the only college in Kodagu offering BSW programme. The dept. has skilled and qualified teaching staff who have made the education more qualitative.

Prepare qualified social work personnel and provide continuing education to them for social work practice, administration, education, training and research to meet the goals of the profession
Objectives
- To develop students application of critical thinking skills in classroom learning and field education practice situations
- To build educational opportunities that challenge students learning through the development and utilization of evidence based social work knowledge
- To prepare graduates who apply and promote at an advanced level the values, ethics, theory, perspective and social work profession
- To promote professional development and community involvement of faculty and graduates within the local, religion, state and global communities
Activities
- The department of social work organized various educational programmes to promote the skills and awareness among the social work students
- The field work has been organized by the department under the support of local panchayaths, NGOS and hospitals such as social awareness programmes, medical camp, health and hygiene programmes etc.
- The annual study tour organized by the department to enrich the knowledge and learning among the students
