Department of Chemistry has been started during 1960-61 with introduction of Chemistry at PU level. Chemistry as graduate level subject for B.Sc was started during 1962-63. PhD programme in Chemistry was started during 2016-17. The Department has four teaching faculties. Dr. J G Manjunatha, Assistant professor of Chemistry, who heads the department, guides four Research scholars and two students have already successfully completed the Ph.D work under his guidance. The department has three guest faculties. Many research papers have been published by the faculty members in International Journals and have presented their research findings at various International and National conferences. The Department is undertaking research projects funded by certain VGST, UGC and Mangalore University. Department has the credit of successfully hosting State, National and International conferences. The faculty members are active in academics and research activities, and also motivate students towards their overall development.
